Amsterdam-based Newcraft, an e-commerce consultancy that provides support to companies in their digital acceleration, announced on Thursday that it has joined Wunderman Thompson, a division of WPP.

WPP is a creative transformation company. It claims to use the power of creativity to build better futures for people, planet, clients, and communities.

Mark Read, CEO of WPP, says, “With consumer behaviours and use of new ecommerce channels continuing to change at a rapid pace, brands need innovative solutions to reach customers and new audiences. As we continue to invest in growth areas, Newcraft’s extensive experience of transforming the digital offering of some of Europe’s leading companies will further strengthen our global commerce proposition and drive results for clients.”

Founded in 2007, Newcraft is a data-first, commerce-focused digital acceleration consultancy. It combines C-level transformation strategy with operational-level digital acceleration skills to offer blue-chip customers real-world business results.

Newcraft, in a statement, says, “With this collaboration, we can serve more international clients, and gain more in-depth knowledge in the industries we operate in. We see a great fit in terms of our client networks, people and culture. Our meetings with the teams have been nothing but positive and relaxed, and we can’t wait to see the opportunities this will bring for our clients and our colleagues.”

The 155-person company will become a part of the Wunderman Thompson global network, enhancing its well-established Northern European teams for marketing and commerce services.

The acquisition will help WPP’s aggressive expansion goal to expand on its current skills in commerce and technology. The agency network claims to manage over $40B direct and $20B of marketplace gross merchandise value for its clients, and already employs about 13,500 commerce experts throughout its agencies.

Neil Stewart, CEO of Wunderman Thompson Commerce & Technology, says, “Newcraft brings a unique mix of commerce expertise in strategy and operations and fuses it with industry-specific capability across retail, FMCG, wholesale and mobility. Combined with our leading commerce technology and customer experience in the Netherlands, I’m excited about how Newcraft will help us accelerate our end-to-end commerce services for clients in the region and across the world.”

Wunderman Thompson Commerce is an e-commerce consultancy firm that offers digital strategy, marketplace, amazon, and data services. It offers solutions across all major digital routes to market worldwide: marketplaces, online retailers, D2C, B2B, and social commerce.
