BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Two Bowling Green High School seniors signed Youth Apprenticeship Contracts with M&L Electrical Inc. on Friday, Aug. 26.

According to a release by Bowling Green Independent School District, BGHS seniors Benedek Por and Henry Lindsey signed the agreements as part of the Bowling Green High School’s first-ever TRACK Youth Apprenticeship Program.

The students in the TRACK Program will spend part of their school days at M&L working toward their education, and also as paid employees, stated the release. BGHS industrial maintenance teacher David Loveland will work with the students for classroom requirements, then at M&L, students will learn how to apply that knowledge on the job site.

Both seniors will be close to finishing their first year of apprenticeship, a nationally recognized credential before graduating high school.

Principal Kyle McGraw says, “M&L Electric has made a commitment to Bowling Green High School, to our Industrial Maintenance program, and to our community to help move Bowling Green forward with partnerships like these.”

Loveland says he will begin the 2022-23 TRACK program with two students and M&L but hopes to expand in the future. Currently, 85 BGHS students are enrolled in industrial maintenance courses at the school.
